Anturio

2025-2026

Anturio grew out of my interest in botanical forms, and in particular, the sculptural presence of this plant. Through close observation, its forms begin to simplify and transform into abstract compositions, where the balance between emptiness and form takes center stage.

The series is in dialogue with ukiyo-e, a movement in Japanese art that inspires me through its way of constructing space, the weight of its figures, and its use of pattern and flat surfaces. Those references are reinterpreted through a contemporary language, without seeking a literal representation.

Color is the axis of every piece. Through layers, transparencies, and subtle contrasts, I try to create paintings that convey calm, depth, and an invitation to pause and look. More than portraying a plant, Anturio seeks to capture a feeling and transform nature into a space for contemplation.
